My name is Ray Sumner. I am 28 years
old and this is my 1991 Dodge RamCharger 4x4, bone stock. To be
honest I don't think she's ready to be on a web site, but what the
hell. I picked her up dirt cheap from a friend of mine about 6
months ago. He was the 2nd owner. The original owner lived in West
Virginia and it shows. All the lines are rusted to a point where I
cant believe they still hold pressure. Apparently, the original
owner was a heavy drinker also. The front bumper is bent and a
little twisted. There's a huge dent/scrape down the passenger side
that runs from just below the door handle to the tail light. Also
the grill is missing an insert and has a few cracks. Surprisingly,
the frame barely shows any surface rust. The interior is perfect.
She only has 83k original miles. The TBI 318 runs like a champ. For
stock, the 4x4 surprises me. The CAD hasn't failed me yet. So far,
my only issue has been with the battery. I purchased a new battery
when I bought the truck and 2 weeks ago it made it self into a dead
short. A replacement battery was free. Replacing the alternator and
voltage regulator were another story. Dodge really built one hell of
a truck, considering her age, what shes been through, and how well
she still works. In the future I hope to swap out some axles from a
3/4 ton Dodge. A lift and some 35's. I know I'm going to catch some
weird looks for this, but I want to get rid of the TBI and run a
carb. I'm old school, always had a thing for Q-jets since my teenage
Chevy dragstrip days. Perhaps I'll give Holley a try. I hated them
back in the day, but that offroad avenger looks pretty cool. That's
pretty much it. I like the factory paint. I think I'll just repaint
it the same when the time comes. For now I have more dreams than
dollars.
